Change order reform legislation AB 1347 (Chiu) was passed out of Senate Judiciary Committee today on a 7-0 vote. This bill will require public agencies to respond to payment demands by the general contractor for extra work performed within a time limited structure.
CAL SMACNA is a co-sponsor of this measure and believe that this bill will ultimately help subcontractors get paid on a more timely basis for the extra work they are directed to perform.
Next procedural stops for this bill in the Capitol are the Senate Appropriations Committee. If passed it will then be moved onto the Senate Floor. We hope and expect the bill to be on the Governor’s San Francisco le
