SACRAMENTO–The California Energy Commission is wrapping up informal workshops on new HVAC code change proposals. These proposals are now available on CAL SMACNA’s website here.

The CEC will begin a formal rulemaking proceeding in Fall 2017 to adopt changes to the Building Energy Efficiency Standards contained in the California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 24, Part 6 (also known as the California Energy Code), and associated administrative regulations in Part 1 (collectively referred to here as the Standards). The updated standards will be proposed for adoption in May 2018 with an effective date of January 1, 2020.

The Energy Commission has opened Docket 17-BSTD-01 for pre-rulemaking comments on proposed 2019 Standards measures.
